Written by Jean-Baptiste de Brilhac, translated by Behn. "Licensed, May 24, 1688. R.P." (EEBO). In 1696, Catharine Trotter wrote "Agnes de Castro a tragedy, as it is acted at the Theatre Royal by His Majesty's servants / written by a young lady" which was "founded on Mrs. Behn's novel of the same name, which was based on S.B. de Brillac's Agnes de Castro" (EEBO). |
